Learning
Learning how to communicate in the outdoors can help kids develop important leadership skills that they may use later in life. It also teaches them how to work well with others and build strong relationships. Camp requires campers to communicate with one another in order to accomplish their goals. This includes pitching a tent, preparing meals, determining which trail to hike and other tasks that require teamwork.
Learning to camp and explore the great outdoors develops leadership skills that transfer into careers and everyday life. These skills include risk management, communication and outdoor skills that can be applied to any job. Teens can take part in our leadership development program throughout the year, including as Day Camp Assistants (DCA), Counselors in Training (CIT) and Junior Counselors (JC). These experiences help teens discover their personal leadership style and learn about nature.
